Flexible Dentures

Flexible Dentures are a type of removable partial denture made from a lightweight, flexible material rather than a rigid pink acrylic or metal denture. Flexible dentures are designed to bend slightly, they adapt to the natural contours of your gums and where necessary discreet, gum-coloured clasps can be used to grip existing natural teeth.

Flexible Denture advantages:

  • The flexible resin is highly resistant to breakage if accidentally dropped
  • Generally lighter due to the thinner material
  • The soft, pliable material minimizes pressure points and irritation, making them a popular choice for those with sensitive mouths

Flexible Denture disadvantages:

  • It's more difficult to reline or modify flexible dentures if your gums change shape over time
  • They may not be suitable when multiple teeth are missing in a way that requires significant structural support or when used as a full denture
  • The flexible base is more prone to bacteria build-up than a rigid base
